The cutest most amazing little creature came into our lives on 30th October morning :)
And visit we did. Better known for their famous BBQ Ribs, selections of Indonesian fares and their boobilicious Martinis, Naughty Nuri has the party fun vibe that’s comfortably noisy, irritably crowdy at times and tables are often shared, then again you can’t always please both sides. What they made up for is their brisk and efficient services. So although there is quite some queue by the roadside, after 30 or so minutes wait, we were escorted to our tables and orders immediately filled and food arrived within 15 minutes. Heck we are on Holiday so we can wait.
Yes, Naughty Nuri may be popular for tourist around the world, but it is equally enjoyed by locals. It’s Pork Ribs that people flock to in crowds may not be my absolute favourite (I still like Hurricane, Sydney the best!) however the flavours were worth devouring, with its not-too-sweet and sticky special BBQ sauce and falls off the bone meat textures. One slab of ribs each which comes with about 7-8 ribs that may not be good portion for sharing unless you want to order other main courses as well.
Their Indonesian food flairs quite well too, with a very enjoyable sup buntut or oxtail soup, with thick earthy broth and their bebek goreng (crispy fried duck)- an Indonesian specialty though naughty nuri's version was bordering too dry for us.
What’s worth mentioning is their little “gimmick” for their Martinis, when you order a Classic Martinis, you’ll get to enjoy a little performances by Naughty Nuri’s staff, where they chant “one, two, three shake shake, shake shake” while good spiritedly shaking their butts and booties at the same time. It was for a good laugh, and i see foreigners order again and again just so they can enjoy the dance. It also helps that their Martinis were surprisingly quite potent and tasted quite good.
Yasai Stick RM10, combination of carrots, cucumbers, celery slices. Nothing fancy, and I do this a lot at home during parties and entertainment.
Nasu Dengaku RM14- Baked eggplant with Miso bean paste is one of their proudest creation. Some liked it, some don’t as the paste can get a little too sweet for some.
Unagi Harumaki RM22- Grilled eel and cream cheese rolled in rice paper
Ika Geso Karaage RM14- Deep fried squid tentacles is yums yums, simple greasy and goes well with sake.
Sake Bomb Maki RM28 (no pics)- Soft shell crab, salmon with spicy sauce is as good too. My word of advice, go there and order as many sushis as you can, most of the items I’ve tried has been satisfactory
Salmon Tataki with Goma Dressing- RM35, pan seared salmon slice dressed with special sesame sauce.
Chawan Mushi with Duck RM14, or add Foie Gras (RM22)
Shuraku Oki Roll- Special big roll (RM26) – salmon, tuna & octopus
Okonomiyaki with mix seafood and pork (RM26) is the tummy filler. The fillings were ample and came in a good 3 pax sharing portion.
The fun mickey mouse and the friends’ themed birthday party. Attendees include Donald duck, daisy, goofy and his long time gf, Minnie mouse. The dad whom happen to also be name as Michael aka Mickey as I call him did a wonderful job in making his daughter’s very first birthday a memorable one.
I took some odd shots here and there with wobbly hands after having one drink too many. It's one of those kids birthday party where adults find opportunity to drink like it's they are the host.
You know you've shifted into another phase of life, when all parties you attended nowadays are baby related.
